Speaking of articles, it strikes me that the previous series of blog posts would make some pretty good ones. I'm thinking of cleaning and expanding them into a couple to get the most out of the subject.
Great article. I've been trying to analyze why some books I can't put down and others I can leave off for weeks or more. I think strong characters are the key to keeping me turning pages when I should be asleep. I've found that those weaknesses add a sense of suspense. If I see that the character is bleeding at the end of the chapter, then I can't help but read on to make sure s/he survives in the next one.
